BioConsortia, based in Davis, California and Auckland, NZ, is an agricultural biotechnology company that uses a proprietary method for the selection of beneficial microbial consortia for crop improvement and is seeking two laboratory technicians to join its R&D team in Parnell, Auckland, NZ.
Each position will be responsible for providing technical support for BioConsortia NZ’s science program, with emphasis on plant growth experiments using BioConsortia’s accelerated microbial selection (AMS) proprietary platform. The successful candidates will work closely with the company’s R&D team.
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
Providing technical assistance for plant growth experiments
Providing technical assistance for the set up and implementation of lab and field trials and associated activities
Isolation, maintenance and phenotyping of environmental microbes
Preparing reagents and media
Contributing to the development, optimisation and implementation of new protocols and techniques
Adhering to regulatory requirements and internal policies
Contributing to the updating of lab manuals and the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Contributing to the collation of data and experimental records
Contributing to the preparation and delivery of material in the form of reports and presentations
Collaborating with other R&D staff in the company.
Assisting in the maintenance and cleanup of lab equipment and space
The successful candidates will possess the following skills:
BSc in the field of biology or plant science preferred but not essential
Experience in horticultural or agricultural industry desirable but not essential
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment

Dotterel Technologies, developer of noise reduction and audio recording technologies for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is seeking a technician/generalist with proven UAV assembly and piloting experience, to expand our team.
Dotterel build UAV test frames of various sizes as test platforms for our shrouding and audio technologies, and as such the skills we are seeking are:
• Piloting small and larger craft without GPS
• Building, maintaining and repairing UAVs
• Extracting telemetry data and programming flight controllers
In addition to UAV skills, the broader support role will encompass varied tasks such as development of test jigs, data collection, 3D printing, CAD and documentation development.
Our ideal candidate for the role is an experienced UAV ground-up builder and pilot with practical engineering knowledge and CAD skills.
A valid New Zealand driving licence is essential, as some local travel will be required. Please note that you must have the right to work in New Zealand to apply for this job. Regrettably we will not be offering visa sponsorship.
